If your idea of relaxing is doing stretch classes, bushwalks, facials and sipping herbal teas in front of an open fire, then Solar Springs Health Retreat, Bundanoon (just a 2 hour drive from Sydney’s CBD) is THE place to go.
Health is My Oyster has turned 1 years old! It’s been so much fun blogging my health and wellness experiences in the past year, as well as sharing posts from like-minded bloggers. I didn’t realise, until now, how much I loved posting about raw chocolate (aka cacao)! Or that as much as I love sharing healthy recipes, reviews and health destinations are also popular categories.
Last week was the first-ever Vitality show held in Sydney: a three day affair at the Royal Hall of Industries for health, wellness and beauty lovers (read: me!).

As I’m trying to make my diet simpler, less processed foods, less chemicals, more cooking from scratch, I am wanting to make other areas in my life simpler too – including skin and haircare. This is an area that I’ve always loved spending money on! Seriously, leave me in a chemist or department store and I was happy for hours. But I gave no thought to what chemicals I might be putting onto my body and what effect this might have on me.

Ever since I was a teenager, I have been obsessed with makeup and beauty. Partly because of my acne-ridden teenage years, I’ve been on a quest for products to attain the flawless and airbrushed look of the girls in magazines. I have spent countless hours in drugstores trying out different foundations and lip-glosses (late 90s and early 2000s are all about lip-glosses) and splurged on MAC products every time I received pocket money from my parents or from cash earned from part-time jobs in college.
