guest recipe: green lemonade

Fancy some lemonade without lemons? Sounds strange I know, but it works! This ‘green’ version is just as zesty and refreshing as your traditional ‘lemon’ lemonade kind because of the pineapple.

Pineapple is high in the digestive enzyme, bromelain, which helps with protein digestion and, like lemons, is high in vitamin C. Celery is high in water content and works as a natural diuretic, eliminating toxins from your system. This recipe is from eco-spa and raw food retreat, The Farm, who treat their guests to this tropical delight daily.

Serves 1


1/4 cup pineapple
1/4 apple, peeled
1/2 cup cucumber, peeled
1 stalk celery
1 cup coconut juice
scoop of ice


1. Combine all ingredients in a blender except ice and blend until smooth.
2. Strain using a fine strainer.
3. Pour into an old fashioned glass then add the ice cubes.
4. Stir and serve.
