motivational mantras for 2014

I admire people who are motivated and disciplined enough to stick to a fitness routine. Those people who view working out as an ingrained habit like brushing their teeth or taking a shower.

While most of the time I don’t see exercise as a chore (only because I’ve found workouts that I love), there are definitely times when all I want to do is vegetate.

That’s when I go to my collection of fitspo quotes.

Yes, I’m a sucker for those toned, tanned and fit images of people on Instagram, tumblr and Pinterest, BUT they’re a surefire way to get me to exercise!

The best thing is that they can be motivation for pretty much anything, simply because they’re just cold hard truths.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, any goal worth having requires hard work and commitment. There are no shortcuts. Sure, you can put things down to luck or help from the universe, but what you put in (be it time, effort, money, energy), you get out.

So, here are my top motivational mantras for 2014 to get me through some physical as well as some mental challenges I’ve set myself – like doing the swimming leg of the Fitness First Corporate Triathlon, starting the next semester of my nutritional medicine course, and various other personal goals I hope will help me grow and give me a sense of accomplishment. Bring it on!

The below aren’t quotes, but these images from Mesh Yoga (aka Michelle Lou Lan) provide instant motivation for when I feel like skipping my yoga class.
